Easy Pool 2008 Support & Technical Help

The current version of Easy Pool is:  Easy Pool 2008 Build #503.  Look in your Help/About menu to see what version you have.

Issue:  I'm using VISTA and when I try to delete a player name it deletes all instead of the one name I had selected.

Answer:

This is only happening to those users of VISTA who have UAC (User Account Control) enabled.   If you disable UAC, (which is safe to do), the problem won't occur.  You will be able to safely delete one player at a time.  Click here for special instructions on how to disable UAC on the VISTA operating system.

Issue:  I'm having trouble interpreting the Pickscan report.  It doesn't seem to list all the first round winners, or does it?  What am I missing?

Answer:

PickScan only shows a team one time - if the team is picked to win the whole tournament, it shows up in the first slot.  If it is picked to lose in the championship game, it shows up in the second slot.  If the team is picked to get to the final 8 and go no farther, it shows up in the final 8.

Another way to think about it - every team in the report has been picked by
this player to win the first round.  Every team in the left half of the
report under the Sweet 16 heading is picked to be in the Sweet 16.  Every
team in the left quarter of the report (includes Final 4 and Final 8
headings) is picked to be in the Final 8, etc.

The format of the report allows you to see everybody's picks without
duplicating data.  If you displayed every winner of every round, the report
would be 64 columns wide, and half of the report would be redundant data,
since the team picked to win the championship obviously had to win all its
previous games to get there.

Issue:   My pool players want to view their .pik files they sent me.  Is there a way they can do this without purchasing the software?

Yes, have them download Easy Pool from http://www.easypool.com

You can import 3 .pik files for free without purchasing it.

Select File / Import and import your pik file.  Now select Pool / Add View Player's picks and find your name.  Select it and you will see your picks on the tournament grid.  From here the grid can be printed out, or if you have the proper software, a pdf file or XPS file can be made.  We don't support the pdf or xps files.

Issue:  The Pool Snapshot will not recognize the entries from one player. In picks alive the Pool Snapshot report shows zero.  This is not true. The report also shows that the player has been mathematically eliminated.

Fix:  This is a normal occurrence if this particular player's picks have not been clicked thru completely on his pick sheet.  Go to Pool / Edit View Player's Picks. Select the player in question and make sure all of the games have been clicked thru completely. If not, click thru the games and make sure they are dulled out on the player's screen.

Issue:  I selected Fixed Upset points at 1. Now when I try to change the Fixed Upset points to 2 it won't stay at that number.  It keeps going back to 1.  What am I doing wrong?

Answer:  You must first unselect Fixed Upset points and select the option of  None.  Now change the value of your Fixed Upset points, and reselect the Fixed Upset points option.  The fixed upset points value will now stay at the setting you selected.

Issue My players are telling me they don't see team names listed on the NetPick.NET website.  When I go there I see the teams names displayed just fine.

Fix:  You MUST USE INTERNET EXPLORER  5.0 or higher to use NetPick.NET.  If you use another browser such as Firefox or Netscape, the team names won't be displayed.  All you will see are blank team name tiles.  Tell your players they MUST USE INTERNET EXPLORER TO SUBMIT PICKS USING NETPICK.NET.

Issue:  I receive email from my players using AOL WEBMAIL.  They say they sent their .pik file but all I see is computer html code and I see no attachment.  How do I import this .pik file?  This only happens using AOL.

Fix:  Use another mail client and have them resend their picks.  You could also try to forward what they sent to another mail program.  This works too.
AOL WEBMAIL has spam filters that detect the .pik file as a possible spam.  AOL COMMUNICATOR AND AMERICA ONLINE 9.0 will see the .pik file and allow you to download it.  We recommend that you not use AOL webmail for importing Netpick files.
Use America Online Software 9.0 or America Online Communicator.

Issue When I print a PickScan Report the first round winners are cut off.

Fix:  On most PickScan reports you will need to print the page in Landscape Mode. In your browser, select File, then select Page Setup.  Now select Landscape and print your report.

Issue I'm having problems deleting a player.  I follow the instructions but the program won't let me delete the player I've selected.

Fix:  Some users might experience this problem.  Rebooting your computer will take care of this issue.  If that doesn't work, look closely at the name.  If you put the name in backwards, like Smith, Mary instead of Marym Smith,  this could be your problem.

Issue:  I receive email attachments from my players and can’t open the file. I saved them to my desktop. How do I get them imported to Easy Pool?

Click File from the menu bar. Then click Import 2008 Netpick File.  Now browse to where you have the pic file stored, select the file and click Open.

Issue:  I'm getting the following error message in Outlook Express when trying to access a .pik file someone sent. OE removed access to the following unsafe attachments in your mail:  "name".pik.

Fix:  By default Microsoft has changed your OE settings. This was probably done without your knowledge during a recent Microsoft update.  We suggest you do the following to allow your file attachments to be accessed.

From the Outlook Express menu, click Tools|Options and click the security tab. On the
Options window, you can uncheck the option labeled "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened ..."

Issue I try to import a netpick file but I get an error message saying "No Files Processed."

Fix:  Make sure you are using Easy Pool Version 2008.  You can not import Netpick files into previous versions of Easy Pool.  You must upgrade to Easy Pool 2008 in order to use the NetPick.NET import feature.

Issue I downloaded the starting teams grid, and ran the install.  My main grid was not updated.

Fix:  Make sure you are using Easy Pool Version 2008. The starting teams template will only update Version 2007 with the starting teams.  You must upgrade to Easy Pool 2008 in order to use the downloadable starting teams template.

Issue:  I purchased Easy Pool last year and lost my setup file.  I really don't want to upgrade because I won't utilize the online services.  I prefer to enter in my own teams and players picks.  Where can I download the older version of Easy Pool?

Fix:  You may download Easy Pool 4.0, Easy Pool 2004, Easy Pool 2005, Easy Pool 2005, Easy Pool 2006 and Easy Pool 2007 from these links:

http://www.easypool.com/40.exe

http://www.easypool.com/2004.exe

http://www.easypool.com/2005.exe

http://www.easypool.com/2006.exe

http://www.easypool.com/2007.exe

Use the registration code you were given at the time you purchased your version of Easy Pool.  We do not keep these records, so don't email and ask us. The old teams from the 2003, 2004, 2005 ,2006 and 2007 tournaments are loaded into the program, so you will need to delete all the starting teams and put the new 2008 teams in.  Remember, NetPick.NET will not work with this version.  You must use Easy Pool 2008 to use NetPick.NET.
